Take Transit to July 1
For those planning to come to the Canada Day events, we recommend using the free transit service offered by BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District.
From Comox, the limited-stop #34 C2C Express will offer two trips per hour all day, starting from Comox Mall, routing through Anderton / Lerwick / NIC / Ryan Road. The bus will drop off passengers at the bottom of the hill at Ryan Rd and the Old Island Hwy. This will require a short walk onto 5th Street to enjoy the parade, and all the happenings in the park. etc.
From Cumberland and Royston/Buckley Bay area the transit service will include a connector bus from Driftwood Mall (#1 Fitzgerald) to the recommended drop off at the corner of Fitzgerald and 6th Street.
Buses will be there to serve you all day long. Full transit schedule information: 7166_2_COM_Riders Alert
On Canada Day, visit the bus at Simms Park to learn how transit can meet your transportation needs, and enter to win prizes!
- 9:00 am to 12:30 pm: 5th Street from Lake Trail Road to Ryan Road (including the 5th Street bridge) will be closed to vehicle traffic for the Canada Day Parade.
- 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm: 5th Street from Cliffe Avenue to Comox Road (including the 5th Street bridge) will be closed for Canada Day festivities.
Vehicles will need to detour around the parade and celebration route, and will not be able to cross 5th Street within the closure area. Plan an alternate route and leave extra time to compensate for heavier traffic on the 17th Street Bridge. We thank you for your cooperation and patience.
