Canada Day in Courtenay is a great event for families as there are many fun things for kids to take part in.
June 30 from 4:00pm: Fun for the whole family – enjoy the brilliant concert open air free NITE BEFORE CONCERT in Simms Park.
July 1st: All children are encouraged to decorate their bike and take it up to the transfer yard at 5th and Menzies. Judges give cash prizes in every age group and all children get a prize gift for entering. Decorating the bikes are given extra consideration if in theme.
The highlight of the Bike Decorated Contest is that all entries get to lead the Grande Parade down 5th Street. Parents are asked to pick up their kids at the Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre around 11am.
Kids Zone is open all Canada Day with great fun to be enjoyed with bouncers and activities in Lewis Park i
- bouncers are free all day
- 7 Story Circus will show how to walk on stilts, juggle, and many other skills
- Courtenay Recreation will offer 3 legged races, spider races, etc for prizes in central area of the park
- face painting will be a fun thing to do!

Free Swim on Canada Day everyone is welcome to enjoy the outdoor pool in Lewis Park
Bike Draw many very generous organizations, businesses and individuals donate a bike and helmet. The bikes are available to be won by some lucky boy or girl at 3PM in Lewis Park on Canada Day. A Draw ticket is available for free to any 5 year old to 12 year old from a booth in the park. All kids must be in the park when the draw is done on the Lewis Park Stage at 3PM in order to win.
